JUVENILE DETENTION CENTER
The Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center (JTDC) provides secure housing for youth aged 10 to 16 awaiting adjudication in the Juvenile Division of the Cook County Courts. The facility also accommodates minors transferred to Criminal Court jurisdiction. The JTDC emphasizes a safe and structured environment, offering programs that support personal development and aim to improve outcomes upon the youths' return to the community.

PARTNERSHIP
Adopt A Pods
We meet with a pod (6-12 residents) for 90 min, providing food, a time of fellowship and prayer.
One-on-One
Volunteers who have completed the approved training and background checks can meet with residents bi-weekly or monthly to pray and participate in Bible study with them.
Events
We are invited to serve throughout the year at events such as volunteer trainings, the Black History Month program, worship concerts, and Christmas programming.

GET INVOLVED
If you're interested in getting involved, we recommend starting with events like the Christmas Play, BHM Concert, or Adopt a Pod. Volunteers can participate in up to two events per year without completing the volunteer training.
However, we highly encourage you to complete the training. Once you do, you'll have the opportunity to join the Awaken Serve Team or the JTDC Serve Team and volunteer as often as you'd like.
