FOOD FOR ALL
Our friends and partners at Breakthrough have just launched their Food for All Campaign, and we’re so thankful to be a part of the incredible work they’re doing in our city.
Because of the federal government shutdown, thousands of Garfield Park residents have lost access to SNAP benefits . This deeply impacts families in the neighborhood, especially since 90% of shoppers at Breakthrough’s Fresh Market Community Food Pantry rely on SNAP benefits, and there are currently no grocery stores in the area.
Breakthrough’s Fresh Market, along with their Men’s & Women’s Centers, have become a vital food safety net for those experiencing homelessness, and hundreds of children and youth depend on them for daily meals.
